چکیده
Abstract Catheters are commonly used in hospital treatment, but most of the medical materials production catheters hydrophobic, with high surface friction and weak antibacterial properties, so a large amount money is spent on treatment catheter‐related urinary tract infections worldwide every year. To improve comfort patients, weaken damage between urethra, reduce economic burden, coating urethral catheter good strategy. Because softness, lubricity functional network structure (load or graft different substances) hydrogel, it has wide range applications for devices. In recent years, studies hydrogel coatings have received more attention. This review mainly summarized research progress including its function method guiding grafting to substrate, prospects future.

A review of the recent advances in antimicrobial coatings for urinary catheters.
More than 75% of hospital-acquired or nosocomial urinary tract infections are initiated by urinary catheters, which are used during the treatment of 15-25% of hospitalized patients. Among other purposes, urinary catheters are primarily used for draining urine after surgeries and for urinary incontinence. During catheter-associated urinary tract infections, bacteria travel up to the bladder and ...

The insertion of non-tunneled temporary hemodialysis catheters (NTHCs) is a core procedure of nephrology practice. While urgent dialysis may be life-saving, mechanical and infectious complications related to the insertion of NTHCs can be fatal. In recent years, various techniques that reduce mechanical and infectious complications related to NTHCs have been described. Evidence now suggests that...
